The Music - Skydiggers, Donovan Woods & Basia Bulat

About Skydiggers

Around since the late 1980s, the Skydiggers folk-rock style has left listeners speechless and always wanting more. The group’s elemental guitar-based origins and plaintive layered vocal style can be described as an eloquent and vital plea for compassion, honesty, healing and reckoning with the truth. For 25 years, Skydiggers fans have gathered in Toronto to get into the Christmas spirit as the band performs both holiday tunes and some of their classics. This year, the band is taking that show on the road.

“We’ve realized that the most moving moments of the season are more than just expressions of glad tidings and comfort and joy. That there are moments of melancholy, regret and truth that are, in their own way, as much a part of the Christmas experience as any joyous carol. We want to put on a show that both celebrates the season while leaving room for quieter, more personal moments.” - Skydigger's Andy Maize

About Donovan Woods

Donovan Woods is known for combining melodic sentiments with rustic folk storytelling. The singer/songwriter is in demand and is quite sought-after, writing songs for popular names such as Tim McGraw and Lady Antebellum’s Charles Kelley. As a man of many musical talents, Woods has most recently released an acoustic album that reveals a certain admirable vulnerability that reels you in.

About Basia Bulat

With an electrifying voice and lyrics like silver arrowheads, Basia Bulat has become one of Canada’s most conspicuous talents. Her massive talent has been recognized at scale: her songs have been adapted for major performances with symphony orchestras, and she’s been tapped for prestigious tributes. Juno nominated and shortlisted for the prestigious Polaris Music Prize, Bulat often appears solo in gigantic halls, winning over crowds with an autoharp or charango, stomping feet and two mighty lungs.
